What is the Date Modified file property?

The last date when a file was modified and saved.

Date Modified is a file property in a category we call File information.

We call file information properties properties that all files have, such as "Size" and "Date Created".

Uses for the Date Modified file property

Date created for downloaded files

When a file is downloaded to your computer, or added to a disk, the date created value is set to the date and time when the download started. The date modified value is set to the finish time of the download.

Keep image file dates when copying from an SD card

When you copy digital camera image files from your SD card onto a disk on your computer, the date created property of the image files changes to the date and time they are saved on the disk. The time and date information is not lost, though. You can find it in the "date picture taken" file property in DDFileCatcher in the "image properties" category.
