Folder is a container for files. Folder used to be called directory as in Unix. A Windows system can be compared to a filing cabinet:: a folder is equivalent to a cardboard folder that holds sheets of paper, which are files, and the folders are suspended in a drawer of the filing cabinet, which is a drive. The filing cabinet itself is the computer, which can have several drawers, each of which is a drive.

Folder is a file property in a category we call File information.
